What's Going On?
When do you think we will see those Spring Flowers? A little rain is always welcome and a little temperature in the thirties if OK, if you planted tulips, but enough is enough, don't you think? My friends in the northern states wonder how we can stand Houston summers, but how can they stand all that snow!!!
Let's think Spring, and plan for peach, pear and other flowering branches for the Ikebana Ideas that frequently come to mind at this time of year.
And we should begin to plan for Japan Festival in Hermann Park that is not too far way from now. We hope for beautiful weather and no rain, please! This year, Ikebana is featured as the theme of the Festival. So often, it has been the martial arts, even kites from Japan. One year - Koi! There will be on-going demonstrations and arrangements from as many schools as we can find around here. Please plan to be part of the festivities. Tachibana will reward you with one free class certificate for each ikebana arrangement you exhibit!
Mark your calendar for the Headmaster's visit! The workshop is limited to Ikenobo members, so if you have not paid annual dues, please remember to send immediately!
ICHIYO
We are continuing the Advanced Series of classes with Don Olsen, with April 23 and 24 classes remaining. A Beginning Series is planned and will be announced next month. If you are interested, please let us know.
IKENOBO:
We will repeat Professor Manabu Noda's workshop in Rikka Shofutai and Rikka Shimputai that we attended in San Francisco in three of the February classes. It was very well received by everyone who attended.
SOGETSU:
It is always a pleasure to have Yu Mei Montalvo Instruct classes for our Houston Chapter when she is in Houston from Quio, Equador. Having two grandchildren to visit here is our good fortune!
